WE DID IT !!!!!!

We completed the National 3 Peaks Challenge in 23 hours and 57 minutes !!!!!!! It required a sprint finish to the car park, but we did it.

We all now feel totally dead, but a celebratory drink will be required tonight, although I think just one may be all some will manage.

It was both physically and mentally exhausting and we will all sleep well tonight.

A big thanks goes out to David and Don our drivers, we could not have done it without them.

We were joined by Jim Croton for the last climb, following a fresh pair legs helped us on the final push.

We are now on route to Snowdon (ETA 12:45) we are still well on target to complete this challenge within 24 hours, hopefully the traffic will be kind to us !

Ready and Waiting to start the challenge

We eventually arrived last night at 21:20 and after making our beds up walked down to the pub for a wee dram !

Nobody got much sleep last night, too much snoring !

Today we are just killing time and just want to get on and start the challenge.

We will be setting off at 5pm and if we can get an internet connection after our return to the minibus I will update our progress.

Still on the road

2 comfort breaks down and 261 miles still to go, we are currently passing the lake district, it was mentioned, should we miss out Ben Nevis and just do the 2 peaks, but "That wouldn't be in the spirt of things" says Geoff

Leaving for Ben Nevis

We all piled into our Builders Van/Minibus at ATIL Middle Wallop and set off for Ben Nevis at 09.50 this morning. We hadn't left the camp before the first shout of "Are we there yet" was heard ! But it will be a while before we are, TOM TOM tells us 9 hours 45 mins, that doesn't include comfort breaks.

ATIL and Nord Anglia National 3 Peaks Challenge

On the 4th May 2010, ATIL and Nord Anglia team members will begin their attempt at the National 3 Peaks challenge, by travelling to Ben Nevis in their rented minibus.

The 3 Peaks involves climbing the 3 highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis:1344m), England (Scafell Pike:978m) and Wales (Snowdon:1085m) in a 24 hour period (including travel by road in between).

The team (Geoff Murray, Ian Munday, Andrew Slade, James Nelson, Sarah Gerken, Debs Barron, David Stewart (Driver) and Don Glover (Driver)) have varied experiences of hill walking from a lot to very little and this will be a personal challenge for all involved.

The actual attempt will be started at approx 5pm on Wednesday the 5th May at the foot of Ben Nevis.

Our intention is to update this blog with our progress as we go (internet connection permitting).

All money raised will be given to the Forces Childrens Trust. Online sponsorship can be made at http://www.justgiving.co.uk/atil3peaks

Thank you for your support.
